SATO RFID Now Tracks Singapore’s National Blood Supply
Singapore’s new RFID-enabled blood supply management system is live across the national blood service and every hospital blood bank lab, built on SATO’s PJM RFID labels and readers.
In August 2026, SATO announced that Singapore’s Next-Generation Blood Supply Management System (NBSM) is operational. The RFID-enabled system runs in the Health Sciences Authority’s (HSA) Blood Services Group and across all public and private hospitals’ blood bank laboratories, supporting online blood ordering and automatic tracking of every blood component.
The project was awarded to CADI Scientific after an open tender by HSA, with SATO as the technology partner supplying its PJM RFID labels and readers. SATO points to its fast read rate and readability when tracking fluids such as blood products, which have long been a hard application for RFID.

- Improve productivity across the blood supply chain, from HSA to hospitals.
- Give better visibility of national blood stock levels, in peacetime and in emergencies.
- Improve blood and patient safety through better tracking and quarantine of blood components.
